Academic Policy & Code of Conduct

Considering

  • That Istituto Di Moda Burgo Indonesia is a fashion education institution founded on Italian Craftsmanship and international fashion education standards;

  • That in order to ensure academic quality, discipline, professionalism, and legal certainty, a written Academic Policy is required;

  • That this policy serves as the official guideline for students, parents/guardians, faculty members, and institutional management.

Referring to

  • The Indonesian Civil Code;

  • Applicable laws and regulations in the field of education;

  • Student Agreement of Istituto Di Moda Burgo Indonesia Year 2026.

CHAPTER I – GENERAL PROVISIONS

Article 1 – Purpose

This Academic Policy & Code of Conduct is established to:

  • Define academic, administrative, and ethical standards;

  • Ensure professional and structured educational governance;

  • Protect the reputation and legal interests of the institution;

  • Serve as the official reference for the implementation of the Student Agreement.

This Academic Policy & Code of Conduct shall be read, interpreted, and implemented together with the Student Agreement Year 2026. Both documents are complementary and inseparable.

Article 2 – Scope

This policy applies to:

  • All active students;

  • All educational programs;

  • All academic, administrative, and institutional activities within Istituto Di Moda Burgo Indonesia.

Article 3 – Legal Standing

  • This Academic Policy is an official institutional document.

  • It forms an integral part of the Student Agreement.

  • In the event of differing interpretations, this policy shall be binding insofar as it does not conflict with the laws of the Republic of Indonesia.

CHAPTER II – ACADEMIC STANDARDS

Article 4 – Curriculum & Learning Method

  • The curriculum is determined by the institution in accordance with international fashion education standards.

  • Learning methods include theory, practice, studio work, projects, and portfolio development.

  • The institution reserves the right to adjust the curriculum for quality improvement.

Burgo Method

  • The learning system applied is the Burgo Method, developed by Istituto Di Moda Burgo Milan – Italy and implemented globally.

  • The Burgo Method emphasizes:

    • One-on-one instructional interaction between instructor and student;

    • A structured and didactic approach;

    • A personalized curriculum aligned with each student’s capability.

  • Each student is treated as an individual with a unique and progressive learning path.

  • One (1) instructor supervises a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 15 students per session.

  • This system allows for flexible scheduling without reducing lesson completion obligations.

  • Schedule flexibility does not reduce attendance, evaluation, or graduation standards.

  • Instruction utilizes official Burgo textbooks, including Il Modellismo and Il Figurino.

Article 5 – Curriculum Integrity

  • Each educational program has a mandatory curriculum structure and allocated instructional hours.

  • Students are required to complete all subjects according to the selected program.

  • Students are prohibited from:

    • Converting hours from one subject to another;

    • Refusing mandatory subjects, including Fashion Entrepreneur (F-preneur).

  • Requests for subject conversion or removal will not be accepted.

  • Non-compliance with the curriculum affects graduation status and certification.

  • Adjustments may only be technical in nature and must not alter the curriculum substance.

Article 6 – Attendance & Evaluation

  • 100% attendance is a mandatory academic requirement.

  • Evaluation is conducted through examinations, assignments, practical work, and portfolio assessment.

  • Decisions of examiners are final and binding.

CHAPTER III – ADMINISTRATION & FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS

Article 7 – Administration

  • Students are required to sign the Student Agreement.

  • All personal data and required documents must be submitted accurately and completely.

  • Incomplete administrative requirements may result in suspension of academic services.

Article 8 – Financial Obligations & Overpayment

  • All education fees are non-refundable.

  • Outstanding payments result in suspension of classes, examinations, and graduation.

  • In the event of overpayment:

    • The amount shall not be refunded in cash;

    • It may be converted into additional lessons.

  • Additional lessons:

    • Must remain within the Burgo curriculum;

    • Do not replace mandatory subjects;

    • Require academic approval from the institution.

CHAPTER IV – GRADUATION & CERTIFICATION

Article 9 – Graduation

A student shall be declared graduated upon fulfilling:

  • All administrative and financial obligations;

  • 100% attendance;

  • Successful completion of all examinations and Final Exam/Portfolio.

Article 10 – Certificate

  • Certificates are not automatically granted.

  • Certificates are issued only after internal verification.

  • Failure to meet requirements shall not constitute institutional breach of contract.

CHAPTER V – ETHICS, DISCIPLINE & COMMUNICATION

Article 11 – Conduct

  • Students must maintain ethical behavior, professionalism, and uphold the institution’s reputation.

Article 12 – Social Media & Anti-Defamation

  • Students are prohibited from spreading gossip, defamation, or statements that may harm the institution.

  • Digital evidence is recognized as legally valid proof.

CHAPTER VI – GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE

Article 13

  • Objections must be submitted through an official form and scheduled appointment.

  • Submissions made outside the established procedure shall be deemed a violation.

CHAPTER VII – SANCTIONS

Article 14

  • Sanctions may include warnings, suspension, dismissal, and/or legal action, depending on the severity of the violation.

CHAPTER VIII – GOOD FAITH & DISPUTE RESOLUTION

Article 15

  • Any dispute arising from academic, administrative, or educational relationships must first be resolved through deliberation and amicable settlement.

  • Legal action taken without following the grievance procedure may be deemed an act of bad faith.

  • The institution reserves the right to claim compensation for unlawful or unfounded legal actions, including but not limited to:

    • Legal and case handling costs;

    • Reputational damages;

    • Operational and management expenses incurred.

CHAPTER IX – STUDENT STATUS, DROP-OUT & ALUMNI

Article 16 – Student Status

  • Active Student

  • Graduate / Alumni

  • Drop-out Student

Article 17 – Drop-out

A student shall be classified as drop-out if they:

  • Resign voluntarily;

  • Become inactive;

  • Fail to fulfill financial obligations;

  • Violate academic regulations.

Drop-out status terminates the academic relationship without eliminating financial obligations.

Article 18 – Rights Not Applicable to Drop-out Students

Drop-out students are not entitled to:

  • Certificates or diplomas;

  • Alumni status;

  • Use of the Burgo name as a graduate;

  • Alumni access or institutional endorsement.

Article 19 – Permissible Statement

Drop-out students may only state:

“Attended Burgo Fashion School (non-graduate)”

Any misrepresentation of status may result in administrative or legal action.

CHAPTER X – FINAL PROVISIONS

Article 20

  • This policy is effective from the date of enactment.

  • It may be amended in accordance with institutional needs.

  • It is published as an official public document.
